Dr. Steven Katz describes his philosophy for providing care at his Long Island practice. The office manager, Mercedes LaRusso, describes how the entire office treats their patients like members of the family. Jeff Spencer, a Smiles On Broadway patient, describes his patient experience with Dr. Katz.

Dr. Katz: I feel that our role is not just to provide dental care and dental treatment, but to support our patients in any way that we can.

Mercedes Larusso: The difference between us and other practices is the level of comfort that you’ll achieve when you come in. We do everything possible to make all our patients feel relaxed and comfortable.

Dr. Katz: I always want to treat other people the way I want to be treated myself and I go by what Zig Ziegler said, “You can get anything in life you want if you just help enough other people get what they want.”

Jeff Spencer: In the past I’ve gone to other doctors, other dentists. They didn’t care, or I’m sure they cared, but they didn’t make a point of identifying my fear, the fear of the pain, the fear of having my teeth worked on. They didn’t identify the things that could have made me feel better. From the moment I started here at Smiles on Broadway, I felt like this was the doctor I needed to have, this is the care I needed to have.

Dr. Katz: I don’t view my patients as patients. They have entered into a relationship with me. I care about them as if they were members of my family, in a different way, but that respect and that level of affection, and that level of regard that I have for them, makes me manage their care, I think, in a much more personal way.
